Police Exposes Alleged Plans to Disrupt Election in Jigawa
According to reports, the Jigawa State Police Command stated that they have discovered plots by some
“unscrupulous elements” to cause distress during the upcoming 2019 general elections, slated for Saturday, February 16.
The command’s Public Relations Officer, SP Abdul Jinjiri, stated via a statement released on Wednesday.
He explained that the command, in collaboration with other sister security agencies in the state, they would fish out those planning to cause unrest in the state before, during and after the polls.
To ensure the safety of the people, the command has stated that unauthorized movements are restricted as from midnight on Friday until after elections, saying only those on official and essential duties are allowed to be seen on the roads on the day of the Election.
He also made a plea to the good people of the state to go about their normal businesses and make good use of the provided lines so as to attain free, fair, and credible elections in the state.
In order to ensure overall compliance, the command released effective mobile numbers to seek clearance on any sensitive issue bordering on election exercise, security matters among other relevant issues that call for prompt police attention.
