Ferguson to return to the Dugout

Manchester United have confirmed Sir Alex Ferguson will return to the dugout for a one match cameo

Manchester United have confirmed that their most successful manager, Sir Alex Ferguson will be returning to the dugout for a special reunion match to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the club's treble-winning season.

The legendary United side will play Bayern Munich Legends at Old Trafford on the 26th of May in an interesting repeat of their famous 2-1 Champions League final comeback win that sealed their third major trophy in the 1998-99 season.

The treble-winning side lost just three times in the 1998-99 Premier League away to Arsenal and Sheffield Wednesday and at home to Middlesborough and were unbeaten after Boxing Day en route to beating the Gunners to the title by one point.

The Old Trafford outfit route to the FA Cup saw them face five different Premier League opponents as at the time in Middlesborough, Liverpool, Chelsea and Arsenal before beating Newcastle United 2-0 in the final match, courtesy of goals by Paul Scholes and Teddy Sheringham.

The Red Devils remain the only English side to have achieved a Premier League, FA Cup and Champions League treble, and did so under the Scotsman's guidance.

Sir Alex left United at the end of the 2012-13 season, winning the Premier League, a feat other managers after him have been unable to replicate.

The funds raised will go towards charity via the Manchester United Foundation

This particular news comes as a great relief for the Red devil’s fans bearing in mind that their legendary manager had to undergo an emergency brain surgery last year. Fortunately, he has made a wonderful recovery and has been seen in some of United’s game recently.
