Ronaldo Gets a 23-month Prison Sentence for Tax Evasion
Juventus striker, Cristiano Ronaldo has accepted a 23-month suspended prison sentence which was passed to settle his tax evasion case on Tuesday.
The 5-times Ballon d’Or winner was convicted of evading tax payment on his image right during his time at Real Madrid between 2011 and 2014 which is worth over £12million.
It was reported by Metro UK that the Portuguese pleaded guilty to avoid any jail time and is expected to pay around £16.5million to the court. He (Ronaldo) was denied special treatment by the judge who refused his demand to appear by video or even enter the building by car.
Ronaldo pleaded guilty within minutes of entering the courthouse with his girlfriend, Georgina Rodriguez and left so as to avoid lots of paparazzi.
With everything in the right condition, he hopes to start against Lazio on Sunday and lead his team to victory.
