Chelsea Sign Pulisic from Borrusia Dortmund
In one of the most interesting businesses so far in the winter transfer window of European football, Chelsea FC has reportedly acquired the services of exciting midfield talent from Borrusia Dortmund of Germany in the person of Christain Pulisic.
The deal is reportedly worth £58 million (€64m/$73m) which will see Pulisic spend the rest of the campaign on loan with Borrusia Dortmund before linking up with the Blues ahead of the 2019/20 season.
The USA international, who is regarded as one of the hottest prospects in football presently, who is capable of playing as a right winger, or on the left or behind a striker, said: "In summer I move on to Chelsea and to a new competition, the English Premier League. It’s a privilege to have signed for such a legendary club and I look forward to working hard towards being a contributor to their team of world class players."
The USA international has impressed since making the breakthrough for the Bundesliga side during the 2015-16 campaign and has since made 115 appearances for the first team, scoring 15 goals and creating another 24.
However, he has struggled to hold down a regular starting place in Lucien Favre's side that have charged to the top of the league standings this season, opening a six-point gap to Bayern Munich. His bit part role in the first team this season has been thanks in no small part to the rise of another exciting talent in Jadon sancho.
Also, with the player unable to agree new terms with the club on a deal that would have expired in 2020, Dortmund were content to allow him to leave.

“It was always Christian’s dream to play in the Premier League. That certainly has to do with his American background, and as a result we were unable to extend his contract,” Dortmund’s sporting director Michael Zorc said whilst speaking to Dortmund’s official website.
Whilst speaking to Chelsea's official website, Chelsea director, Marina Granovskaia, commented: "We are delighted to have signed one of Europe’s most sought-after young players. We look forward to welcoming him to Stamford Bridge in the summer and wish him and Dortmund every success for the remainder of the season."
