English Premier League Week 22: Five things to Watch Out for

The English premier league is well and truly underway with 21 matches played so far and the winter transfer window currently opened, Liverpool sit comfortably on top of the league table as things stand although they will feel they should have had a better stronghold on that position given they lost to second placed Manchester City last time out.

Today we will discuss five things to watch out for this weekend.

Five things to Watch Out for
  1. How will Liverpool respond to their first defeat of the Season
  2. The Real Test for Ole Gunner Solkjaer
  3. Will Soton Leave the Relegation Zone
  4. How is the Race for Top Four going to end up this Week
  5. Will Wolves Continue their fine form against the big boys

  • How will Liverpool respond to their first defeat of the Season
We start from the top of the table as all eyes are fully focused on the title race, match day 21 was a significant match-day for Liverpool as they went to the Etihad to face second placed Manchester City. Although they lost the match by 2 goals to 1, they are still four points ahead of the cityzens with 17 matches to go. The loss at the Etihad was Liverpool's first of the season in the 2018/19 premier league season and we can only wonder how they will respond to that loss. The start to the year has not been fair on the reds with two defeats from two matches, which leaves them with only two trophies to fight for this season. Their next opponents is Brighton and Hove Albion and they will fancy their chances of returning to winning ways when they face the team that sits 13th on the log. Will Jurgen klopp's men respond positively and keep their fans' hope of a first title in years high?
  • The Real Test for Ole Gunner Solkjaer
Manchester United's interim manager, Ole Gunner Solskjaer, has hit the ground running with four victories from four since his appointment. The free flowing attacking football is back at Old Trafford and the goals are coming in, Paul Pogba is back in the frame of things and smiles seems back on everyone's face in the red half of Manchester. However, those matches are against teams in the bottom half of the table with the real test and toughest challenge since his appointment expected to come in the match against Tottenham Hotspur, United travel to Wembley Stadium to face the in form team who are coming back from a morale boosting victory over Chelsea in the EFL Cup shortly after their 7 V 0 thrashing of Tranmere. The question now is can Solskjaer United continue their run of form or will Tottenham stop ole's perfect start?
  • Will Soton Leave the Relegation Zone
Southampton are in the relegation zone after 21 match days. Although they have sacked Mark Hughes and since appointed Ralph Hasenhuttl, the results have not changed as they sit 18th on the premier league logs, two points behind 17th placed Cardiff City. An important point was gained in the 0 V 0 draw against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge, however, the Saints need to start grinding out results now if they are to avoid the drop, they face Leicester City in their next match and they must hope they take at least a point away from the king power stadium.
  • How is the Race for Top Four going to end up this Week
The race for the top four is something to watch out for this season as six teams fancy their chances of finishing in the top four. Liverpool, Manchester City and Tottenham are at this instant holding a firm grip on the top three positions, although the later is only four points above fourth placed Chelsea FC. Just six points separate the remaining three teams with Chelsea holding a three points advantage over Arsenal who similarly holds a three points advantage over Manchester United. Tottenham and Manchester United face off this week and that might have a significant effect on the race for top four as Chelsea aims to close the gap on Spurs while United fancy their chances of getting into the top four in this match week.
  • Will Wolves Continue their fine form against the big boys
One big positive from the Molineux this season has been Wolverhampton wanderers results against the top sides in the English League, they have drawn the two Manchester clubs and Arsenal, recorded victories against Chelsea and Tottenham and recently dumped Liverpool out of this season's F.A Cup. Next up is Manchester City who are hot on Liverpool's trail. Can wolves upset the cityzens at the Etihad?

These are the things to watch out for this weekend in the English Premier League Match-day 22. We hope the matches match our anticipation.
