ASUU Strike Update; Government's Offer to be Considered by Members

The Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU, disclosed on Monday that it is still in the process of consulting with its members over the offers made by the Federal Government.

Prof. Biodun Ogunyemi, ASUU’s National President was quoted when speaking with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) that the government had made some good offers during their meetings but the strike still lingers on because its members all over the nation are still deliberating it.

We are still consulting with our chapters across the country

There are promises that the government made and we are trying to consult with the various university chapters on the options before the union.

By the time we are fully aware of what is left of our demands from what the government is offering, then we will know what steps to take, even as negotiations with the government continues

According to Ogunyemi, the ASUU is currently in touch with over 20 Universities across the country in order to ascertain the level of implementation.

At the end of consulting, the final response would be given to the government and depending on the outcome of the meeting, ASUU strike may be called off sooner than expected.
