Atiku Blames Nigeria's Insecurity for Badeh's Death
The former Vice President of Nigeria and the Presidential Candidate of the People's Democratic Party (PDP), Atiku Abubakar has said through a statement issued by his Special Assistant on Public Communication, Phrank Shaibu that he blamed the rising insecurity in the nation for the sudden death of the former Chief of Defence Staff, Air Chief Marshal Alex Badeh, who was shot dead when returning from his farm by some unknown gunmen at Tudu-Uku, along Gigata-Keffi road.
Atiku said that if the gunmen did not ambush the vehicle containing Alex Badeh and his driver, he would not have sustained the gunshot injury which killed him and the driver on the spot.
“Badeh’s death made the headlines because of his personality, there are many ordinary Nigerians who are killed or maimed on daily basis by rampaging armed robbers, kidnappers, herdsmen and hoodlums across the country”
He emphasizes on the fact that the security system in the country is not effective and that we should not continue to pretend that all is well, so Nigerians should look for credible options by electing a more prepared candidate who will ensure that the force is well equipped and motivated to do their duties.
“It is no longer news that during the 16 years when the PDP was in power, the nation boasted of the better motivated, best equipped and best-mobilised policemen in the country,”
Atiku then urges President Muhammadu Buhari to pay the late security chief a tribute by ensuring free and fair polls in the next year election.
Finally, he prayed for the deceased that God Almighty will grant him rest and also comfort the family he left behind on earth.
