How to Make YouTube Shorts: Access the YouTube app on your phone and use the feature to capture short videos to create YouTube Shorts: YouTube is beta-testing its Shorts feature, which allows users to produce short films right from the app, in an attempt to compete with TikTok, Snapchat, and Facebook and Instagram Stories.


You can record short videos with your smartphone's camera and upload them right away. The default length is 15 seconds, but you can extend it up to a minute via the app.


YouTube Shorts is currently available in over 100 countries, including the United States and Canada.
Tap Shorts at the bottom of the YouTube app, on the YouTube homepage, or on their channel page to find these specific videos.

Note: After you've finished recording your video, make sure to include the #shorts hashtag in the title or description so YouTube can recommend or promote it.

While these Shorts cannot be monetized through adverts, they will have an impact on the number of views, total playtime, and the number of individuals who visit your monetized YouTube channel.
YouTube has also established a $100 million fund to support creators who contribute to the growth of the Shorts community.

How to Make YouTube Shorts

  • To create YouTube Shorts, you must meet the following requirements.
  • Shorts on YouTube can be up to 60 seconds long.
  • A YouTube short of 60 seconds might be made up of numerous 15-second films or one continuous video.
  • Vertical orientation is required for the videos.
  • Audio from YouTube's library or other videos can be included in the video, but only for up to 15 seconds.

How to Make YouTube Videos in 10 Minutes or Less

  1. Download the YouTube app for your Android or iPhone and sign in if you don't already have it.
  2. Tap the + symbol in the bottom-center, which is the Create button.
  3. Tap Create a Short on the pop-up, which has a camera icon next to it.
  4. If you're utilizing this option for the first time, your smartphone will ask for permission to use the camera and microphone.
  5. You'll be taken to the YouTube Shorts recording page once you've been accepted.
  6. The default recording length for YouTube shorts is 15 seconds.
  7. You can set it to 60 seconds by tapping the number "15" above the record button.
  8. To speed up or slow down the recording, tap the Speed icon of a speedometer on the right.
  9. By pressing Timer just underneath Speed, you can specify a time for the camera to start without you.
  10. Finally, Filters lets you apply a variety of visual filters to your video. This feature may be unavailable to some Android users.
  11. Press the Record button when you're ready. Tap it again to pause the recording, then tap it again to start recording the next portion of the video.
  12. Tapping the bottom-right Undo button, which looks like a left-facing arrow, deletes the last section but not the entire video.
  13. When you're finished recording, press the check mark in the bottom right corner of the screen to preview your video and add music, text, and filters.
  14. Finally, give it a title and change the sharing options.
To ensure that your video is noticed or promoted with other YouTube Shorts videos, include the hashtag #shorts in the title.
